SHARP Literacy enhances future life success by energizing urban children, motivating them to identify themselves as confident, capable scholars and lifelong learners by inspiring engagement in reading, writing and research through hands-on interaction and visual arts. By partnering with teachers, parents and the community, our goal is to provide the experiences and opportunities urban students need to discover a lifelong love of reading and learning.

SHARP currently serves 8,500 students in 39 urban elementary schools in some of Milwaukee and Waukesha County's most distressed neighborhoods.

"It's about teaching these kids about how to manage life.
These are kids that I don't think had a lot of the same opportunities I had.
I've been very blessed, and things have worked out really well for me.
But it doesn't happen like that for everybody. No matter what your situation is,
it's important to be able to give back and to understand other people's struggles."
